PBS Compute Manager
Compute Manager is a simple web interface where users can perform the below tasks
Submit jobs
Monitor the jobs which are running
Transfer files
To launch compute Manager, open your favorite browser which support html5 and open relevant URL listed in the FAQs section “How do I access NSCC?” located at https://help.nscc.sg/faqs
Once navigated through the URL, a similar interface shown below should be opened.
Make sure that Compute ManagerTM is selected below before typing the username and password. The username and password provided should be NSCC credentials.
Once logged into the interface there are three buttons shown in left below corner to choose among the options.
Monitoring
Remote Files
Job Submission
In the above screen, Monitoring means, you can monitor the jobs, Remote Files is a file browser to download/upload and navigate through files in remote server, and Job Submission is to submit the jobs.
Tab Monitoring
In the above screenshot, I selected Monitoring therefore in the right pane it is showing all my jobs which are submitted.
When a job is selected, in the right above pane, the job details are shown in the below pane similar to the screenshots below, when choosing one of the tabs Overview, Properties, Files and Actions
In the job monitoring section, it is also possible to terminate a running job.
Tab “Remote Files”
Select “Remote Files” tab from the left pane, bottom section to navigate through the Filebrowser. This will open the directory structure in the middle pane top section and files in the selected directory in the below section. A similar screenshot is below:
Text file viewer
Directory path
Directory Browser
Folder Navigation buttons
Files and folders
Navigate to previous directory
Navigate to next directory
These two buttons only will be enabled when moving among directories
Go back to home directory
Navigate one level up
Refresh the view
Download files/directories
Upload files
New Directory
Delete files (Execute with caution)
Tab “Job Submission”
As the name stands this button is for job submission. If there’s a template or profile defined already in the system, then such profiles or jobs will be displayed in the right side pane. See the below screenshots for more information.
In the above screenshot, the predefined templates under application section are mostly the Display manager apps, and there’s no application which is relevant for my job submission so I selected PBSJobApp from the left pane which shows me the middle section with job information. I can choose the required number of processors from here or I can put all the resource requirement in my job submission script.
The last two steps which I need to do are to drag and drop the desired job submission script under Job Script and click on Submit button.
You may notice the submit.pbs is the script name under Job Script currently which I wanted to submit.
